1. Sir Robert Helpmann

Sir Robert Murray Helpmann (1909-1986) was an Australian ballet dancer, actor, and choreographer. Born in Mount Gambier, South Australia, he spent his childhood in Walkerville. Helpmann is regarded as one of Australia's most influential performing artists, known for his extensive work in theatre, film, and television. He co-founded the Australian Ballet and played significant roles in various productions around the world.

2. Sir Mark Oliphant

Sir Marcus Laurence Elwin "Mark" Oliphant (1901-2000) was a renowned Australian physicist and humanitarian. Although born in Kent Town, South Australia, he spent his early years in Walkerville. Oliphant made significant contributions to nuclear physics and was involved in the Manhattan Project during World War II, which led to the development of the atomic bomb. He later became the Governor of South Australia (1971-1976).

3. Cheryl Kernot

Cheryl Kernot (born 1948) is a former Australian politician and academic. She was born in Walkerville and attended Walkerville Primary School. Kernot served as a Member of Parliament, being elected to the Australian Democrats party in 1997. She became the Democrats' first female leader in 1997. Kernot later joined the Labour Party and unsuccessfully contested the seat of New South Wales in the Australian federal election in 1997.

4. Alfred Muller Simpson

Alfred Muller Simpson (1897-1963) was a prominent Australian soldier and lawyer. Born and raised in Walkerville, Simpson served in both World Wars and was awarded the Military Cross for his bravery during the Battle of the Somme in World War I. After his military service, he pursued a successful legal career, eventually becoming a judge. Simpson's contributions to the legal profession were highly commendable.

5. Charles "Chicka" Dixon

Charles "Chicka" Dixon (born 1949) is an Indigenous Australian activist and leader. Born in Walkerville, he has played a significant role in advocating for the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Dixon has held various leadership positions within the Aboriginal community and was involved in the establishment of key Indigenous organizations. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his dedication to Indigenous rights and social justice.
